i got soul but i'm not a soldier i'm taking the gre again this thursday. round one didn't go so well even tho i studied some 300+ vocab words. if you can believe it, NONE of them were on the test i took. i have the best luck ever. i guess i'm playing catch-up since i never studied for the sats.
so i'm all set to study with coffee in hand, pencil in the other, and...i decide to call home. i don't think i neglect my parents, but i definitely don't call home "everyday" like don does. there goes the saying that daughters will take care of you.
anyway, my mom and i talk about weddings and family and getting married and familial obligations in marriage. we're going to miami in a few weeks for my cousin's wedding (my mom's only niece). afterwards, we're gonna spend some family time hanging out for a few days. anyone know of any sights to see in florida?
i'll leave you with a conversation my mom had with her coworker. he's 30something, single, and an engineer. he works hard, saves money, (saves a LOT of money), but still can't buy a house in the silicon valley on one income.
gracie's mama: so why don't you get married? you can't buy a house around here on a single income anymore. gracie's mama's coworker: do you have a daughter? gm: she's already married. gm cw: wow you must be old to have a daughter already married.
my mom walked away real fast after that. i'm guessing she's not ready to be "promoted" to gramma either. phew. |
